My Historical Docent Tour Training

Yes, so my training went well.  I will be doing a mock tour for the Slave Cabin Tour, once I have memorized it. Now, what I will do as a docent is:  help out with events, clean waysides (signs), sort books, fetch things, give tours, take pictures, and whatever else needs to be done.

Back to my training, I've memorized a good chunk of my spiel, so I'm happy.

Adieu, for now.  :D

It Snowed (And is Snowing)

*happy smile*  Yeah.  Sorry, I don't have pictures right now.  I'll take some in the morning with my new camera, if the snow's still there.  :)

Photography With My New Camera

So, I got a Canon EOS Rebel T3 1100D (I know, it's a mouthful), and it takes the best pictures ever!  I love it, and my Sony Handycam video camera, 'cause they're so good.  Yeah, I shot a short film with my video camera; it has a really good picture (HD) and good sound, with a wind muffling thing and stabilization.  I took some test pictures with my Canon, and they're great.  The stabilization is nice, and it has a bunch of neat settings.  Okay, I'll upload my test pictures, and possibly a short video from my video camera.  :D  I love photography.

My sweater pocket, which I think has really good texture.

This one is my favorite.  Oh, and it's my chandelier with plastic beads, in case you're wondering.

This is my second favorite picture, because of the way it shows the detail of the blue beads.

A surreal picture of Big Dog.

Okay, so, if you like the pics, please comment!  Tell me your favorite ones.  :D

I'm a Historical Docent!!!

Yes, I'm a docent.  If you don't know what a docent is, it's a volunteer.  So, I'm part of the plantation work force, and I get behind-the-scenes tours and to help out with my choice of things to do.  So much fun!  I was accepted immediately, and I'm happy about my especially nerdy chicken e-mail address, because I found out that the lady doing the interviews has chickens!!!  Multiple punctuation!!!!!!  Also, I'm reading the Hunger Games Book Two, currently (I'll probably be done with it tomorrow).  The first book was excellent, and I am looking forward to the movie that's coming out March 23.  There's going to be a movie for each book in the series!  *cheers wildly*  I must seem a little batty with my multiple punctuation, but, hey, what does it matter?  Hmm, right now I'm debating whether this should be a scheduled post that will be put up on January 7th, or not.  *decides*  Jan. 7th it is!  Toodles!  (Hates that form of goodbye, but is running out of other sign-offs)

The Hunger Games

Yes, I loved the first (and second) book of The Hunger Games series.  It rocks!!!  If you haven't read the series, read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's awesome.  Enough said.  Okay, maybe not enough.  Here's a short and to-the-point summary.

Katniss Everdeen lives a simple life hunting illegally in the woods to feed her mother and sister.  When her sister's name is drawn for an annual fight to the death.  Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place, dooming herself to a painful death.  When Peeta Mellark, the baker's son, is deemed the boy tribute of their district, Katniss isn't sure who to trust.

Allright, that was short and sweet.  So, this series is spectacular.  That's the end of my review.

5/5 (Sadly, that's the highest score I can theoretically give.)

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

The fire is slowly dying
And my dear we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Yes, I'm singing that in my head, because (*drum roll*), it's snowing, and better yet, sticking!  It's glorious looking outside, and I walked out barefoot to get some footage to use in one of my movies.  Such an overcast day with the sun shining pink behind the clouds, but not completely overpowering.  I have taken pictures of it, but the slight pink-yellow color does not show well.  I love days like this, which is why I find Alaska to be so captivating.  It was always so cold and dreary, looking like the pictures in a fairy tale.  The big, bad woods that we only dream about.  With fluffy, perfect snow piled on pine trees, it's picture perfect, an idealism.  Except for the large game and predators, that is.

Don't get me wrong, our woods here are gorgeous, pretty and perfect, but they're relatively harmless, minus snakes.  Winter's a comin'.  It surely is, and I'm delighted, for it has always been my favorite season.  On a different note, I'm reading Book One of The Hunger Games, which is wonderful.  *nods*  Adios!
